1. Otis Redding – “Sittin on the Dock of the Bay”
There was alot of moments in my life where I would just be myself and just think you know look out at the sun and just wonder about life and what I would be when I grew up. Then when I got older those moments made me think will I be alive tommorow and if so what am I going to do where am I going to go? As a kid it brought to that place, when I got older it brought to that place and now it just makes me think of how bright the future will be.
2. Gladys Knight – “If I was Your Woman”
I know this ain't the sexy choice for a cat from South Central but you got to understand Gladys Knight's voice is to blame for the melting glaciers not Global Warming. This particular song had so much emotion in it I thought she was talkin to me and the way her voice gets raspy and cracks it's magical if you not up on it get on it.
3. Jodeci – “Forever My Lady”
Yea you know Jodeci was just what it was, if you ain't down with Jodeci you just ain't down with the movement
4. The 5 Heartbeats Soundtrack
I didn't put down a song for them because you know they was bumpin homey! You remember Eddie King with that dirty blazer jacket tryin to hide his turquoise blue outfit like couldn't nobody see it..."Nights like this I wish Rain Drops would Fall" Oh yea " A Heart is a House For love " and you ain't a playa if you forgot "I Got Nothing But Love For you Baby"
5. Warren G, Nate Dogg – “Regulate”
"They took my rings they took my rolex/I looked at the brother and said Damn What's Next?/" Yea this was my joint...it beat was playa and it was funky and it was just cool to listen to. I remember me and all the homies walked around callin ourselves "Regulators" I think we were like 8 years old.
6. Ice Cube – “Today Was a Good Day”
I don't know if you all remember "THE BOX" but it was an all request video channel. My big brother and sister would always try to be the first person to see a new video that came out...I never would win. But this was the first video I saw first and I loved the song because my little sister knew all the words to it before I did.
7. Tupac- “Pain”
"They'll Neva Take Me Alive I'm Gettin High With My 45 Cocked On These Suckas Time To Die" I loved this song as a kid but as I get older this song means a lot more to me. People might get the wrong impression of the meaning of this song but all he was doin was givin you the frustrations of a young kid from the ghetto who only knows one life...thug life. It's not a negative song by any means it's a real song.
8. Tupac- “Me Against The World”
This could be my all time favorite. It represents my life and my fight to be free. Any time I feel the need to be motivated and no if I wanted to I could take on the world I bump this.
9. Toni Tone Toney- “It Feels Good”
This was just one of those songs that would make me dance as a kid and it still does today
10. Smokey Robinson – “Boogum Boogum”
This song makes you do that old people dance when you kinda bend your knees and dip your head a bit and point out your elbows slightly and just jig ya dig.
